For Another Place

Paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe -Google Images
On me: Sweater and Shearling Vest, La Rock Crocheted Sweater, Bebe Crocheted Tank Tunic

Have you ever had this feeling while staring at a painting that if you stare hard enough you could be teleported through it? No, I'm not talking about Gumby or any psychedelic substance.. just the pure, intangible, childlike feeling that something mystical could take place through looking. It's a dreamlike sensation that screws with your sense of reality..at least for a moment. I'm fantasizing about a land enveloped with sky. Here in NY, I have to peak through concrete to get a glimpse.

In my opinion the southwest has one of the most beautiful climates in the US.. not to mention the anti-frizz conditions. My mother used to make fun of me for coming home everyday with what she called, "The Hair Report" which was my run down of how well my hair fared against the humidity. I've gotten better at managing my natural curls, but NY weather prevents me from fully taming the best. I am not so vain as to fantasize about New Mexico for the sake of my hair, but I just thought I'd mention an added perk of living there. Most importantly there is this market.

There are two new Ash Fox/ Tit Tees features that I've added to my side bar. BIG thank you to Christian Castillo for my feature on "Hi, I'm Christian", and thank you Urban Outfitters for featuring me on Urban Outfitters Blog.

Edit: I just want to note that although I am wearing some items from Ralf Lauren they were purchased over 3 years ago. I refuse to purchase anything from his brand in the future. While photoshopping is standard practice in the fashion world, Lauren's team took it to another level. He should be ashamed for perpetuating anorexia and for firing Filippa Hamilton unjustly. I will no longer support his brand. While we are on the topic.. I am also adding Karl Lagerfeld to the list of designers who no longer have my respect for his comments this week.

I've always loved O'Keeffes artwork. I used to repaint some of my favorite pieces, though I don't think I ever came as close to the original. I actually prefer drier climates as well, both for my hair and my skin.

You look fantastic in these images by the way. Love both outfits. The shearling jacket and the stripey sweater are gorgeous!

your sweater is awesome I love the colors in it. I would also looove to visit the southwest, it seems amazing. Agreed on the Karl Lagerfeld boycott, what an ass!!
Oh, and since my new found fascination with sequins I've been debating over the guns T or that gorgeous red flame one. I really like that one because I don't really wear enough color and it is just the right amount of color, and the detailing is gorgeous. Plus the description and inspiration of Studio 54 and glam rock is so true, and two realms of art/fashion that are totally inspirational to me :)

I adore what you're wearing and also I just have to say, those bedclothes are adorable. I tried to add your blog to my list (which I do with every fashion blogger who leaves me a comment) but it's not allowing me to so I guess you're already on there somewhere, although I can't see you. Hmm. It remains a mystery..

I was shocked by Lauren's photoshopping madness, the picture isn't even attractive! They've made her look like an alien. I like a girl who sticks to her principles and boycotts where she feels necessary - good for you! I knew there was a chauvinist pig in Lagerfeld somewhere. *sigh*

Yoli said...

The sweater is stunning and the juxtaposition of the O'Keefe images with yours lovely. Girl you are a beauty! Your face reminds me of the girl from the X-Files. Has someone ever told you that?

I am not a huge fan of Georgia O Keefe's work but the colors are really nice, and match your lovely sweater. The southwest is so beautiful, evn though i could never live there myself, i despise the heat.

congrats on the features girl!

i know what you mean about being teleported through paintings. it's so magical.

I used to love books when i was little and sleep with them under my pillow cause i loved how they took me to another world.

hope you have a great week! <3

May Kasahara said...

the RL/Filippa Hamilton thing was so ridiculous. fuck RL - how the people in their creative dept or retouching studio got away approving that is just baffling.

btw you look gorgeous.

Jennifer Fabulous said...

Gorgeous outfits. They do remind me of the paintings and the southwest. I love the colors.

Baybay Mama said...

No I agree about RL, what were they thinking? I used to work for them on 5th Avenue at their headquarters and after that I refused to buy anything from them because it was so traumatic but anyway...I am such a fan of the southwest..I always imagined myself older with long silver hair living in Santa Fe decked out in Native American jewlery.

Shes Dressing Up said...

I love Georgia O'Keeffe's work, and the beautiful striped cardigan!

Damsels said...

oh wow this jsut reminds me of the o keefe exhibit i either missed or am trying to go to at the whitney ... i know exactly what you mean ... i went from living in AZ to living in NY and i know how hard it is fro the frizz to be done with .. when i go to AZ sometimes it takes like 15 minutes to straighten my hair ..what a miracle .. it takes me two days to get it that good here in NY

JULIA said...

Wow, I am surprised that Karl would subject himself to such controversy... You'd think that after all these years he'd have a filter!

And I would have loved a blogger meet up, but I didn't see your comment until now, when I am home.
Next time. :)
